About Moira

I'm excited to work with you and your team

For eight summers I travelled north to Interior Alaska where I lived with, and helped train and care for, up to 50 sled dogs at one of the most successful professional sled dog racing kennels in Alaska.

Alongside living the dream, I researched the leadership and teamwork principles that contributed to the success of the team. Now I am home in New Zealand I combine my professional experience and training with my learnings about sled dogs to bring you a unique take on leadership, teamwork and life.

I have worked in team leadership, management, advisory and analyst positions for the Ministry of Education in Wellington, Lower Hutt and New Plymouth for 15 years. Prior to that I worked in industrial chemistry and process engineering positions mainly in the petrochemical industry in Taranaki. I hold a Bachelor of Technology (Chemical Technology) Hons.

Spicy was an Alaskan Husky from Two Rivers, Alaska. She ran in the 1000 mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race six times along with a multitude of other mid-distance races in Alaska. She lived her final years with me in Taranaki where she enjoyed running around the local parks and beaches, and sleeping on the couch. Spicy is the inspiration for the Sled Dog Life Lessons logo.
